On Thursday 30th November Socail Studies Block H did their presentations about there differnt topics. I learnt that about these topics:
The Kingdom of Mali Under Mansa Musa Koumbi was a place that people took over in 1203, Sumanguro was the leader of Soso, Sundita was the king of Mandinke (Mandinke are the people from Mali), Hansa Musa was king, Sundita conrolled Mali, Mali was powerful for 200 years, Mali was two times the size of Ghana’s empire, 300 slaves/people carry 4 pounds of gold each day, Mali’s local money lost its value and Europeons included Mali on their map becuase of its increadebell wealth.
How the Songhai Empir Grew to Greatness Songhai was under controll of Mali until the 15th century, Sunni Ali Ber helped Songhai gain independence from Mali, Askia Muhammed raised power, people turned against Sunni Alis son because they didnt like him, Songhai was longer than the empire of Mali and Ghana, Songhai’s empire grew from fishermen to farmers and Songhai’s empire was the last biggest and greatest trading empires in west africa.
The Kingdom of Gold North Africa came with salt to trade with West Africa which had gold, Ghana was very strong becasue of the iron and tax that people pay to them, Gana’s justice system was fair, Ghana’s king made everything fair, Islam was fussy about religion, Islam was kept away from Ghana because they didnt want to mix religions, Ghana was FAIR and SAFE so nobody complained and Ghana had a strong goverment.
The Conquest of Songhai by Morroco Al- Mansur wanted quite some things like to conqur Songhai in the 1580’s and he wanted salt and gold. He also had a stronng army and expencive army. The political army was destroied, the salt and gold trade was lacked, cultivated land fell to waste, 1800 soldiers versed 4000 muskiteers and the muskiteers won and atacked Goa because it was furious about the salt mines.
Thats about all I learnt in the class presentations! =)
