Overall do you feel the United Nations is a successful organization? Why or Why not? Cite examples to support your view. No I do not think that the United Nations is a successful organization because they always plan to help other countries throughout their problems but they never succeed. For example they wanted to help Darfur but they were just thinking about how to help and asking people to donate money for Darfur but the U.N weren’t taking action. Another reason why I don’t think the United Nations are a successful organization is they set to many goals which some of them they don’t reach. This is bad because you should set challenging goals but you should also believe that you can reach them, which in this case some of the goals they can’t reach. For example one of the United Nations Millennium Declaration goals is to stop deadly sicknesses like AIDS or HIV but the only way that they can stop the sicknesses is to give medication. Some of the medication that stops HIV or AIDS doesn’t work for some people and they just can’t get rid of the sicknesses. Another reason why I think the U.N isn’t a successful organization is they are mostly talking about the past and what has happen and they are saying “Oh, no that’s so sad..” instead of taking action in the future so something bad won’t happen to the world. For example on the LESSON PLAN: THE UNITED NATIONS AND REFORM HANDOUT in the fifth paragraph they are talking about how the U.N has faced charges in the past but I think that instead of thinking about what has happened they should start thinking about what will happen to the world if they don’t take charge. All of these reasons are why I don’t think that the United Nations is a Successful organization.

Title of my article: Route littered after clean-up job
Date I looked at this site: 22th April 2007
Link to my article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/gloucestershire/6448823.
Link to Lilian’s Blog: http://lilian.learnerblogs.org/http://lilian.learnerblogs.org/
How are your two events connected? Lilian’s and my article are connected because in Lilian’s article they are talking about littering in the UK. She is also telling people how bad littering is because it affects the environment in many ways. In my article they are also talking about littering (the article did not mention where…). The only difference is that my article doesnt tell about how littering affects the envoirnment; it has more opinoins and comments of other people.
What did you find interesting about this topic? I didnt really think that littering on beaches was a big consern but since I saw Lilians article and the line where it says “Littering has almost doubled since 1994. My chin dropped! I didn’t really think that the UK would litter so much. Another thing that I found interesting was there were no ”Clean-up” teams there so clean up all the litter. That would have been the first thing that I would have said. To get some people over onto the beach and start cleaning up.
What did you like about the initial blog posting? Something that I liked about Lilian’s Blog posting was her information was very easy and clear to understand so the class wasnt confused. I also like how she had the main information and it was written very simply. She didn’t go into detail. I also liked during her presentation how she had index cards so she didnt forget about her topic! Good Job Lilian!!!!

Think about class today and reflect on the presentations you listened to. Explain with details and specific information what you learned and what you found interesting about the presentations you heard in class.
The reflections during class today where very unusual presentations and you don’t hear them every day. That is why I thought the presentation where very interesting and unique. I was cool how we had to dress up as best as we could as Egyptians, weather your where a god, goddess etc. and act like you where them. One of the hardest things was getting ready to write the speech because we needed to find out how to catch the audience’s attention and tell how our person impacted people, show why they were important and tell why they were significant. One of my favorite presentations was Annika’s because she did look like Bastet and there was a lot of poetry in her speech which really caught my attention. Something else I liked about Annika’s speech was that she wasn’t reading everything off the paper, she was also taking her time so the audience could understand it and she had most of it memorize so she knew what she was talking about. Another one of my favorite speeches was Sekheena’s because she knew all the infomation and she knew what she was talking about. Her presentation was also really nice because she took her time and presented slowly so the class could understand it. Something that I learned was the Hatsheput had her very own island, and I didn’t know that Hathor and Bastet where the goddess of a lot of things and most of things they where goddess’s for where the same. For example two of the things Hathor was goddess for were joy and music and Bastet was also the goddess for those two things. Something else that I learned about Hatsheput was that she dressed up as a man not a woman.
What would you change to improve your speech/presentation if you were to do the assignment again?
If I could do my speech again then I would defiantly have talked slower. During my presentation I felt that I was talking way to fast and people couldn’t understand. I think I talked to fast because I was really nervous and during my speech I was just thinking about doing it correctly and getting it over with! I don’t really think if I had to do my speech over again I would change it. I like it how it is, there are some poetry lines and it tells basically the basic information about Hathor.

Hathor Hey! I am Hathor the goddess of love, beauty, joy, music, dance and happiness. I was also the protector of women, so ladies don’t be afraid! Many people worship me; the wealthy and the poor. To them I make them happy and brighten up their day when they are let down. I protect you, I protect them, I am the protector of women. I bring you what you want; joy, love, romance or beauty you name it.
I was known around Egypt for many reasons. I was a true goddess over many things; love, beauty, joy, music, dance and happiness. I was also known because when Ra became afraid of his enemies he asked me to help him, so I accepted and Ra turned me into Sekhmet the lioness goddess. To be honest I enjoyed killing people, but Ra was worried that I would kill too many who were innocent. Ra then had red dye mixed in ale spread around Egypt. I being very stupid drank the red dye mixed with ale because I thought it was blood and got very confused. Then I returned to Ra and he turned me back into Hathor. Thank fully not too many innocent people were killed. I was also really known around Egypt because I was the only goddess with cow horns and a sun disk in between my horns. I have also been known because of all of my nicknames like “The Powerful One”. Being known around Egypt was important to me as in helping other people.
Being very important was a hard role to aim for in Ancient Egypt some did and others didn’t. Since I was the goddess of many things I helped a lot of people and I became very famous and useful so to the Egyptians I was very important. I helped Ra when he got afraid of his enemies and I turned into Sekhmet and managed to kill most of the Egyptians. I also cheered people on when they were depressed by playing peaceful music, dancing for them and convincing them that they were beautiful! I was also very important to Ra because he was the one that got unhappy and depressed the most so I danced for him a lot which cheered him up. That’s also how I became the god of happiness. Being Important was a very important role in my life.
Since I came to the world the lives of others have changed. Now not only the wealthy can worship me; the poor also can because they believe in me. Before the Egyptians new me they were frightened of death but I gave made sure that they would still have a good life even though they were dead. I did this by giving them royal coffins to still feel loved by the world. My biggest impact was before I became the goddess of love, beauty, joy, music and dance I was an alcoholic but then I became a lioness goddess and that changed my life and the life’s of others because when I was an alcoholic there were no goddess for love, beauty, dance, joy and music so some of the Egyptians were depressed and unhappy. I have impacted lives of many Egyptians.
You may think I am a cat, but I am not - I am a lion; I don’t purr, I roar to protect you even more. I protect Ra - I protect poor. I protect wealthy, I protect men, women and more. I protect you, I protect them, I am the protector of women. I bring you what you want; joy, love, romance or beauty you name it. But I am not quite done. I still have something else to share with you; a rap.
I had a head of a cow,
The rest of my body was a human, WOW!
I reigned over pregnant women
I wore clothes made out of linen
My Egyptian toll was music and dance,
Which enhanced love and romance

What is the Issue? The Issue is that six Canadians were killed and a number of others were injured badly when their truck got hit by an explosive device. The explisive device is unknown. This happened on Easter Sunday the 8 of April 20707.The location of the accident happened by Flanders Feild.
Who was involved? The six killed are involed because they are obviously dead and the injured people are also involed because they are in a lot of pain and shock. The familes of the injured people as well as the familes of the dead people are involved because thier family member has been through a tragic event. The medical crew / hospital were involed as well because they had to take care of the several killed. The Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper is involved because it was one of his Canadian troops that got killed or injured.
Who is affected? The people affected are the killed people because they lost their lives and the injured people are also affected because they are in a lot of pain from the accident and they are probally in a lot of shock. The familes of the killed or injured people are obviously affected because their family member has either lost their life or is in a lot of pain. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper s affected because his troop got killed or injured and because now he needs to find a new troop.
What would you do if you were directly involved? I would make sure that the injured people would have good medical care so they dont lose their lives aslong with the other dead people. I would also try to find out what the explosive device is and why it was there.

Sheriff Charlie Wells, left, appears at a news conference with kidnap victim Clay Moore and his family.
____________________________________________________________________________________________
Questions
What is the Issue? The issue is that there was a thirteen year old child was leaving the bus to go home then a man came up to him, pointed a gun at his head and kidnapped him. When Clay (the kidnapped kid) got taken to the woods the kidnapper put masking tape on his mouth and tied him to a tree. Before that Clay had put his safty pin in his mouth so that the kidnapper wouldnt take it from him. Clay needed the saftey pin so he could use it as an escape tool. When the kidnapper had left, Clay spat the saftey pin out of his mouth and tried using it as a knife to cut the masking tape off him. That took him about an hour then he ran to the closest farmer who had a mobile phone and called his parents.
Who is Involed? The people involed are:
Who is Affected and How? Clay is affected because he was the child that got kidnapped and probally he got very frightened. Clays family is affected because they must have been extremely worried and they wouldn’t have known where their child was for two hours! Officer Sheriff Charlie Wells was affected because he has to find the kidnapper so it wouldn’t happen again and he wanted to find Clay in good health. The farmer is affected because he wanted to help Clay in finding his parents.
What would I do If I was directly Involed? I would make the security better around Bradenton, Florida meaning when school buses drop the childeren off they must make sure that someone is there to pick them up. Students above a certain age should have hand phones so they would be prepared if something like this happened to them to call their parents. There should also be better police surveillance gaurding areas so the rate of kidnapping would go down.

Ancient Africa Wiki Reflection 2
What would you change about the final product (the wiki you created) if you were to do the assignment again? If I could do the whole wikispace over again then I would change the way that we had all of our other Swahili pages to more like a navagation bar, but then it would be better if each Kingdom had their own wikispace because then you could have all the to pages like Movment, Region etc. on the navagation bar instead of having all our links on the www.ancientafrica.wikispaces.org kingdom homepage.
~*Mali Empire ~ Movement ~ Block H*~ I like this page because it has a lot of pictures which made the transporation and trading easier to understand.
~*Songhai ~ Homepage ~ Block H*~ I like this Songhai Homepage because it shows what you are going to learn in the next couple of pages instead of some one going through all the pages and finding nothing.
~*Zimbabwe ~ Homepage ~ Block E*~ I like this page because the first thing you see is where Zimbabwe is located so you know what your reading about.

Reflection
What did you learn from this task? I learnt a lot about the Swahili Coastal trading states. I learnt different ways of communication like they speak Kiswahili. I also learnt that they traded a lot of different tools, household items and food. I didn’t really learn a lot of different techniques of using a wikispace because I have made quite a few.
What did you find difficult or easy? Why? I didn’t really find anything difficult on the wikispace that was quite easy because I have done a lot of wikispaces. Something I found difficult was the research, I couldn’t find anything on Swahili Travel and it took me the whole lesson to find one or two good websites I could get information from. When Ms. C gave the class the ‘Boolean Operators’ sheet that helped my research techniques a bit.
What would you change about the process you went through to complete the wiki if you were to do the assignment again? I would defiantly have done more research at home because i don’t think that I got enough information during the class. I also think that Sekheena, Arfan, Leah Mae and I should have organized the wikispace more. We should have made deadlines to when different pages on the wiki should be finished and who found what information.

Title of the Article: Q&A: Bird Flu
Website Address: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/3422839.stm
Date I looked at this site: 7 January 2007
How are your two events connected?
Our two events are connected because in Matilda’s article she is talking about Bird Flu and how it is affection other people and other counties and in my article they are talking about how Bird Flu affects other people.
What did you find interesting about this topic?
Something I found interesting about this topic was that 164 people died from bird flu, I thought that less people would have died. I think that 164 is a lot of peolpe to die from bird flu!
What did you like about the initial blog posting?
I liked how Matilda had a lot of links to Dictionary.com so people that couldn’t understand words could just press that link and find the definition. Also how she explained her answers very well so it was easy to understand.
